ST MONICA'S OLYMPIC SPRINT
The first record in the 100 metres for men (athletics) was recognised by the International Amateur Athletics Federation, now known as the International Association of Athletics Federations, in 1912. The record now is 9.58 seconds which was run by Usain Bolt.
Today you get the chance to beat him!
You are going to sprint 100m and time how fast you run.
We are going to do a few different things with your results.
1. Compare them to the world record. Use this link to find the world records for the 100m sprint from 1912 until the current one. To compare your results to the world record you will need to know how to subtract decimals.

2. Compare at least five other people from the class to the world record. Ask these people for permission before you use their results. If you want to do more than five, feel free.

3. Order the class results. We want a list from fastest to slowest in the class.

4. Present your ordered list in in your Maths book or on your Macbook.

EXTENSION
What could Usain Bolt do?
For the extension question you need to time yourself doing something easy (like tying your shoelaces) and write down the time it took you to do it. Then compare it to the difference between your time and the world record time. If it is the same (or very close to being the same) then imagine this...
You would start the race, Usain Bolt would do whatever it is (tie shoelaces for example), then he would start the race and still beat you.
Be creative and try to think of something unique.
